Q1. What are the symptoms of COVID-19?
The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to any flu like are:
• Fever • Sore throat • Cough • Fatigue
• Problem in breathing
It is important to note that most people with such symptoms may have a common cold or other respiratory disease and do not actually have coronavirus.

Q2. Should I be tested for COVID-19?
You can only be checked if the doctor determines that you are meeting the requirements, i.e.
• If you have returned in the last 14 days from overseas and developed the symptoms listed in Question 1.
• If in the past 14 days you have been in close contact with a reported case of COVID-19 and experienced the symptoms described in Question 1
• If you are a healthcare worker who deals with COVID-19 patients directly and has the symptoms listed in question 1.

Q3. How does COVID-19 spread?
COVID-19 spreads through:
•Droplet discharge from infected person by cough or sneeze.
• Through touching any surface might be contaminated with droplets from infected patient and then touch your face, eyes or nose.

Q4. How should I prevent myself from COVID-19?
There are some basic precautions, such as:
• Wash your hands daily for at least 20 seconds with soap and running water or with a hand sanitizer based on alcohol.
• Touch neither ears, nose, or lips.
• Maintaining distancing from society means social distancing.

Q5. What is social distancing?
One way to inhibit the transmission of viruses such as COVID-19 is through social distancing. This covers:
• Keep home when you're unwell.
• Avoiding public gatherings.
• Have a distance between you and other citizens of atleast 1 meter.
• Minimizing body touch, such as hand shaking or hugging.

Q6. What is the meaning of home quarantine?
When you have come from a foreign country or if you are suspected to COVID 19, you have to stay at home for at least 14 days to prevent spreading of this disease to others. Staying in home quarantine means you:
•Don't come out of your home.
• Ask somebody to get you food and other things and leave them in front of room's door.
• Do not meet people.
• Inside the house, only 1 person can take appropriate protective precautions in your contact as mentioned above until the quarantine period is over.
• If you have no signs of COVID 19, you don't need to wear a mask in your house. If you choose to go out to get medical help, wear a surgical mask to save you (if you have one).
• You will be maintaining sanitation proper in your house.

Q7. What is the difference between isolation and quarantine?
Isolation for those people who are confirmed or suspect COVID 19 case is in a hospital.
Quarantine is among all people who are well, but who have history of interaction with a verified COVID 19 patient. Strict quarantine for a 14-day duration will be followed. It is advised that all persons who have had a previous travel history to a foreign country undergo compulsory home quarantine for a minimum period of 14 days after arrival in India.


Q8. Who is at the high risk for serious illness from COVID-19?
Those with high risk for serious illness from COVID-19 are:
People aged 65 years and older People having low immunity due to chronic illness.
Other high-risk conditions include:
• People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma
• People who have heart disease.
• People who are immuno-compromised and Pregnant women.

Q9. Should I wear a face mask?
Healthy people don't need a mask. Only individuals with COVID 19 symptoms must wear a mask as stated above. Persons who take care of confirmed or suspected patients must wear a mask.

Q10. How long does it take to recover from COVID-19?

People with moderate COVID-19 infections usually recover within around 15 days. In hospitals serious cases are treated and rehabilitation can take longer.

Q11. Is COVID-19 transmitted through pets?

No.

Q12. Will all offices and services be operational during lockdown due to COVID-19?

Only limited offices of the Central and State Governments will remain open as per Ministry of
Home Affairs orders. Though shops supplying essential commodities like milk, vegetables & fruits, groceries, LPG, etc will remain open in a limited manner, these commodities will be delivered at the doorstep of the residents.

Q13. Is there any vaccine available for COVID-19?

No vaccine is yet available for COVID 19.

Q14. Can I go out of the house during lockdown?

In case of emergency, one can go out from the house after taking permission from District
Administration.

Q16. Is it safe to eat non-vegetarian food?
Yes it is safe, COVID-19 does not spread from eggs or non-vegetarian food but must be cooked properly.

Q18.Will I be checked for COVID-19 only at the Government Hospital? Where will I go to COVID-19 for testing?

Presently, the testing facility is only in Government hospitals. However, samples are collected in all Government districts hospitals.
