Launch of 3 Mobile Apps to Raise and Promote Straw Burning Awareness by PUNJAB Government

Various efforts are being made in Punjab to prevent burning of straw, and to increase the awareness among the farmers. To make this possible in today's digital age, Punjab Remote Sensing Center Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana has launched Android mobile apps. There are three apps that farmers can use to get benefits and These have different functions including the first app is:

The i-khet Machine app is available in two languages (English & Punjabi)  and can be easily downloaded from the Google Play Store. The main purpose of the app is to provide machinery to the farmers. This app is to provide information to the farmers about the machines available in the vicinity which are used for efficient use of crop residues. Information about every farm machinery like Happy seeder, Rotavator, Bailer & Rake, Laser level Leveller, Tractor, Zero Till Drill, Chopper, Hydraulic Plow etc. can be found on this app. Easy access to machinery will help in easy disposal of crop wastage. This app is very easy to operate. Download it first.

  1. Launch the app after downloading Choose one of the languages from Punjabi or English on the screen
  2. Then submit after touching the small box with i agree with above policy.
  3. This screen will ask for the details of the machines which will get the information of the machinery in four ways and will also ask you to keep the location of your mobile running.
  4. At cooperative societies and Custom Hiring Centers, first select the machine you want, then select the district. Touch Next when you're done.
  5. The farmer can get information by selecting his district, block and machine in the option.
  6. The last option is to add equipments. In this option information can be obtained by giving all your details and also by missing call on toll free number given on this screen.
  7. After using one of the above methods, the location of the owner of the farm machinery will appear on Google Map.

The map will show four different color circles (green, yellow, blue, red). This cycle will show the circumference of the green circle 5 km, yellow 10 km, blue 15 km and red circle a maximum of 25 km from the current location. More information about the machinery can be obtained by calling the machinery owner.

E-Pehal is the second mobile app. The main objective of this app is to protect the environment by using agricultural land wisely. This app also supports two languages ​​Punjabi and English. Accurate information and replacement of dried plants will help in planting new plants. After launching this app, you have to select the language, then fill the option form on the screen and touch it. To fill in the location in this form you have to turn on the gps of the mobile. All the information about the plant has to be filled in the form such as whether the plant is new or old, planting method line, regular and irregular, plant length, spacing between plants, Plant health such as good, fine, poor, plant age, height and plant type. There is also an option to upload a picture of the plant in the app.

E-prevent is the third app. The e-prevent app has been developed to record crop residue fire incidents in Punjab. This app will automatically capture your location.A report can be submitted quite quickly. Before opening the app, turn on the gps of your mobile so that it can find out your exact location. Fill in your name, camera footage, current location, your district, block, village and lastly the area of fire area (acre / fort, hectare). Now when you touch the submit button your report will be recorded.
