A tribute to Soilders-Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Memorial


Paying a Tribute to Indian Soilders, Punjab Government has set up a War Museum of International standard at Ludhiana,famously known as Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum.This International level War Museum, located on GT Road,Ludhiana-Amritsar Highway,Bhattian,Punjab.Instituted in the year 1999 this is the museum of international standards.Its features History gallery,War heroes gallery,Uniform gallery,Air force and Navy gallery,Signal and medical Corps gallery,Kargil gallery and Audio visual theatre.Statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh sitting on the throne graces the entrance. Around the Statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh anyone can find tanks,apec car,anti aircraft gun,car scout and also old sukhoi fighter aircraft along with massive model of INS Vikrant.These are some of attractions of the museum.

Portraits of brave soldiers awarded National Honours like Param Vir Chakra,Mahavir chakra and Vir Chakra founded in the entrance hall.Various portraits of Generals,Admirals and Air Chief Marshal belonging to Punjab also on display. Among the many galleries of the museum anyone can find exhibits uniforms of Indian Army,Navy and Air forces from the British era.The Medals and ranks won by the officers are also on display.The gallery displays the portraits of Punjabi soldiers who fought in the three Indian War in 1948,1965 and 1971.Busts of six officers who were honoured with Victoria cross are also to be seen in the gallery.There is a light and sound show is yet another attraction of this museum.

This show relates the story of IndianIndependence struggle and the role played by Punjabis in it.The light and sound show entitled ‘A Sonnet Lumiere’ is in the memory of the martyr of Indian freedom struggle the Kargil gallery covers the complete story of the Kargil War.The historic gallery contains Diorama of first and second battle of Panipat,the Anglo Sikh war.It covers the mythological Ram and Ravan,Porus and Alexander,Maharaja Sher Singh,Sardar Bhagel Singh and his companions also find a place here.The gallery displays the Portrait of Nawab Kapoor Singh,Sardar Jassa Singh Ahluwalia,talking soldier of Krishna,Gupta,Mughal and sikh era.Multimedia kiosks have been installed for detailed information.  
The timing of museum is 9AM to 5:30PM on all days except Monday and the entry fees for children is half of the adults
